Frequently Asked Questions

Am I eligible to enroll in PPS?

Columbia is no longer accepting enrollments into PPS, or extensions of existing contracts.
Can I stay on your BudgetPlan if I am enrolled in PPS?

Yes.
How does PPS work?

You pay the same rate per ccf for natural gas for a 12-month period. Changes in the market price of natural gas will not affect the price you pay. If market prices go up, you'll continue to pay the same rate. If prices go down, you'll still pay the same rate you signed up for. However, the gas delivery charges on your bill will still vary from month to month depending on how much gas you use.
If I enroll in PPS, are there any penalties or cancelation fees if I change my mind?

If a PPS customer terminates their agreement prior to the end of the agreement period, early termination fees will be charged. Please see the PPS service agreement for complete termination fee details.
What happens if I move?

If you are a residential customer and move, but continue to receive gas service from Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania at the new address, you can transfer your PPS Agreement to your new location if you notify Columbia Gas within 30 days of the shut-off at your old service address. In the event that you move, the normal fees for terminating the PPS Agreement will not apply.
Will the PS portion of my bill amount to same total charge every month?

No, PPS does not fix the total amount of your bill or even the PPS portion of your bill; this depends on your usage. The amount you pay will still vary with your usage, but the price you pay for the gas per unit with stay the same.
Do I have to do anything at the end of my contract term?

There is nothing you must do at the end of the term. Because the PPS program is ending, you will automatically be converted from PPS back to Columbia’s traditional gas sales service, unless, prior to the end of the term, you have contracted with a natural gas supplier in the Columbia Customer Choice program.
Will I save money as a PPS customer?

The purpose of PPS is to provide certainty and stability of price. While the focus is not on savings, a customer could see savings if gas market prices were to go up during the term of your PPS contract.
Does the PPS price include distribution charges?

The distribution charge is not included in the PPS price. The distribution charge appears in the distribution charge line, under the detail of the charges section of your bill. This distribution charge is the same for sales service customers as it is for those customers on the PPS program.
